Mr. Richard Black, Esq.

 

Mr. Black has experience in all aspects of intellectual property law, with a particular emphasis in recent years on strategic intellectual property portfolio development, evaluation, technology transfer and enforcement, including high-level IP transaction design, supervision, negotiation, and due diligence. Patent portfolio audits and related scope, infringement, validity and enforceability analyses and opinions. Assisting senior management with the design and implementation of licensing, technology transfer and enforcement programs, and in-house procedures for optimizing intellectual property creation and exploitation. Supervising the preparation and prosecution of patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Representation of clients of all sizes, from individual inventors and start-up companies to emerging companies to Fortune 500 companies in hundreds of intellectual property related transactions and disputes in a wide variety of technology areas including software, telecommunications, healthcare, Internet, electronic commerce, civil engineering, construction and others.

 

As a registered patent attorney, his practice includes conducting and overseeing the preparation and prosecution of hundreds of patent applications throughout the U.S. and abroad. Supervises and manages all aspects of IP enforcement and litigation. Practice has also encompassed directing, reviewing and supervising patent work of several patent firms, advising regarding legal aspects of electronic commerce, litigating enforceability of shrink-wrap and later click-wrap licenses, general commercial litigation, and preparing and negotiating agreements for software developers, publishers, VAR's, OEM's, and multi-media/virtual reality and video game developers, digital artists, intranet and Internet consultants, and firewall and other digital security specialists.

    James Seida PhD

     

    Jim Seida is The Viola D. Hank Associate Professor of Accountancy, and Ernst & Young Faculty Fellow at the University of Notre Dame. Jim has published in The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, The Journal of the American Taxation Association, National Tax Journal, and Tax Notes and has presented research at national and regional conferences. His research investigates how tax and non-tax considerations affect decisions by individuals and firms. Jim received his Ph.D. in Accounting from Texas A&M University, M.S. in Accountancy with specialization in taxation from the University of Illinois, and B.S. in Accounting from Arizona State University and was a tax professional with KPMG prior to entering the Ph.D. program.

     

    Philip Slonkosky, D.M.D.

     

    Philip Slonkosky completed his DMD at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, in Louisville, Kentucky and is currently a pediodontics resident at the University of Kentucky School of Dentistry in Lexington, Kentucky. Previously he served as class president, and is an active student member of the American Student Dental Association (ASDA), American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists (AAPD). A 2003 graduate from the University of Notre Dame, Mr. Slonkosky graduated with his BA in Philosophy and science. He is a past president of the Notre Dame Forum on Biomedical Ethics. His research interests include access to care, the doctor-patient relationship, the nature of suffering, and public health. He is currently completing a project looking at access to care for patients with special health care needs in the State of Kentucky which should be ready for publication early next year.

     

    Richard and Julie Thrasher

     

    Rich Thrasher has over eighteen years experience operating and managing various business groups for Enterprise Leasing Company and Enterprise Rent A Car. Rich currently is the Vice President/General Manager in charge of all business operations for the Washington and Alaska markets for Enterprise. He earned his BS in Business Management from Cal Poly Pomona University in 1986. After graduation he joined Enterprise and has been with them for the past eighteen years. Rich is very involved in contributing to the communities in which he works and lives. He currently serves on a number of community boards and committees. Rich also has served on or serves on several boards of directors in the Puget Sound region. He currently is the Chairperson for his industry legislative group, CATRALA and the Chairperson for Inroads Inc.  Rich and Julie live with their children in Sammamish Washington.

    John Travaline MD

     

    Dr. John Travaline is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine. He completed undergraduate studies at Saint Joseph's University with concentrations in biology and theology, and graduate studies in religious studies at Villanova University while attending medical school. He earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Travaline completed his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, and member of the American Thoracic Society. He chairs and participates in numerous professional and academic committees, including serving as the Chair of the Temple University Hospital Ethics Committee for 5 years and of which he is still a member. Dr. Travaline is the author or co-author of more than 80 peer-reviewed journal articles, abstracts and book chapters.
